The Hau River Ecological Urban Planning Project in Binh Minh, Vinh Long is built upon a vision of shaping a modern, sustainable riverside city rich in the cultural identity of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. The planning dossier reflects a multi-layered analytical process—covering natural conditions, landscape structure, transportation networks, regional connectivity, and local socio-economic characteristics—thereby establishing a scientific foundation for development orientation.

Based on the region’s distinctive riverine terrain, the project organizes urban space to fully leverage the ecological value of the Hau River: water surfaces, green corridors, natural retention areas, and traditional agricultural landscapes. The proposed transportation network follows an open structure, enabling smooth connectivity with Can Tho City and surrounding urban areas while strengthening internal linkages among functional zones.

The urban area is planned as an integrated ecosystem that balances people, nature, and the built environment. Functional zones are distributed coherently, including commercial and economic centers, ecological residential areas, riverside service districts, public parks and open spaces, and a comprehensive social infrastructure network. Together, they form a green, smart, and ecologically restorative urban model oriented toward climate adaptation—well aligned with the character of the Mekong Delta.
